[Bug]: Pulse Visualizer Not Working on Ambient Display #398

Description

@16GBRAM

❗ What happened?

Device: POCO F6
Codename: peridot
ROM: AxionOS 2.8 Beta
Feature: Pulse Visualizer / Ambient Display
Issue Type: Visual / Ambient Display

Description

The Pulse Visualizer does not work correctly when transitioning between Brief AOD and Ambient Display.

The visualizer works normally on Brief AOD, but when the device is picked up or tapped to activate Ambient Display, the Pulse Visualizer disappears even though music is still playing in the background.

Interestingly, turning the screen on and locking the device again makes the Pulse Visualizer work on Brief AOD again. However, once the device is picked up or tapped and Ambient Display is activated, the visualizer disappears again.

Expected Behavior

The Pulse Visualizer should remain active whenever music is playing, including when the device is showing Ambient Display.

Picking up or tapping the device to wake Ambient Display should not disable the Pulse Visualizer.

Actual Behavior
Pulse Visualizer works correctly on Brief AOD.
Picking up or tapping the device activates Ambient Display, but the Pulse Visualizer does not appear.
Music continues playing normally in the background.
If the screen is manually turned on and the device is locked again, the Pulse Visualizer starts working on Brief AOD.
However, picking up or tapping the device again to activate Ambient Display causes the Pulse Visualizer to disappear again.
Steps to Reproduce
Start playing music in the background.
Lock/turn off the screen.
Confirm that the Pulse Visualizer appears on Brief AOD.
Pick up or tap the device to activate Ambient Display.
Notice that the Pulse Visualizer is missing.
Turn the screen on manually.
Lock the device again.
The Pulse Visualizer works again on Brief AOD.
Pick up or tap the device again to activate Ambient Display.
The Pulse Visualizer disappears again, despite music still playing.
Reproduction Pattern

Steps to Reproduce
Go to Settings → Display → Ambient Display / Pulse Visualizer and enable Pulse Visualizer.
Enable Brief AOD.
Enable Tap to Wake.
Enable Lift to Wake / Ambient Display gesture.
Start playing music in the background.
Lock the device and allow the screen to turn off.
Confirm that the Pulse Visualizer appears on Brief AOD.
Lift the device or tap the screen to trigger Ambient Display.
Observe that the Ambient Display appears, but the Pulse Visualizer does not show even though music is still playing.
Turn the screen on manually.
Lock the device again.
The Pulse Visualizer works again on Brief AOD.
Lift or tap the device again to trigger Ambient Display.
Observe that the Pulse Visualizer disappears again when Ambient Display is activated.
The issue can be reproduced consistently with music playing in the background.

Reproduction Pattern

Music playing → Lock → Brief AOD → Pulse works ✅

Pick up / Tap → Ambient Display → Pulse missing ❌

Turn screen on → Lock again → Brief AOD → Pulse works ✅

Pick up / Tap → Ambient Display → Pulse missing ❌

Expected Result

The Pulse Visualizer should continue to function on Ambient Display/AOD whenever media playback is active.

The transition from Brief AOD to Ambient Display should not disable or hide the Pulse Visualizer.

Additional Information

The issue appears to be specifically related to the Ambient Display state after pickup/tap activation.

The Pulse Visualizer itself is functional, since it can be restored by turning the screen on and locking the device again. However, it consistently stops being displayed when Ambient Display is activated through pickup or tap.
