Pins - which use and how to set that in the sketch

In these days I start my project to reuse a SUNCOM F-15E RAPTOR changing the electronics with an arduino pro micro.
Today I programmed it with this sketch and it seems to work and the control panel of windows 11 / game peripheral detects it.
Next step is to connect some buttons and some potentiometers to test the time of reactions, the lag (I hope do not discover that) and similar...
But ma questions is what pins of this really micro board I must use?
Where I must setup in that sketch the pins I used and for what I used that (pins, axes, led...).
I read all the FAQ but I do not find any indications about that.
Can someone help me?

The library does not dictate how you read values from the actual hardware you are using, it is simply focused on presenting the Arduino as a Game Controller to the host computer.
