I'm not sure it's a good idea to hand over the organisation. My previous employers open source repositories got deleted soon after they were acquired... The best would be to have this with a foundation so it never gets lost. Just my 2 cents. |

Hello,
As many of you might know, I started this project several years ago and did the majority of the initial work on it while I was between jobs with the goal of lowering the barrier to entry for ISO 11783, and more importantly, making the "hard" parts easy.
So many big players in industry, titans of ISO 11783 and J1939, are so bad at following a standard, fail at doing basic things like address claiming reliably, or only have hyper-legacy unmaintainable CAN stacks that predate C99 somehow and which nobody likes. This project was (and still is) my way to try and show the world that it's not that hard to address claim, and a good, modern C++ interface can make even a large project easy to work on.
As time has gone on, I have less and less time to work on it. Life, of course, happens. Additionally, since I work for one of the big Ag OEMs, spending time on this project feels more and more like "work" rather than a fun side project, which is unfortunate. This project deserves more frequent updates, more features, and to grow.
So, with all that said, I am looking for new maintainers (and specifically for a new lead maintainer/owner) for our suite of projects. If you or your company are interested in becoming a maintainer of the Open-Agriculture projects, please let me know. You must have access to ISO 11783 and SAE J1939 standards (I will take your word for it, but it's pretty important).
If you or your company is very serious about it, I'd even be happy to hand over the github org, the relevant domains, etc to the right person or group.
Feel free to contact me here, in our Discord, or via Telegram.
Thanks,
Adrian
