Assessment marks not updating in assessment_aggregator despite successful submission for some courses

Hi Team,

We are facing an issue with assessment score aggregation for certain courses on our Sunbird setup.

For some courses, even after successful assessment completion and submission:

• No entries are created in the assessment_aggregator table
• No score-related fields (score, max_score, attempts_count) are present in user_activity_agg
• Only completedCount is getting updated

What is Working

• Content is properly configured with valid questions
• Assessment is completed fully by the user
• API /content/course/v1/content/state/update is successfully called
• Payload includes multiple ASSESS events (question-level)
• Kafka ingestion is working
• Course completion and certificate trigger flow is working

What is Not Working

• attempt_metrics is not being generated
• No score aggregation happening in Flink
• assessment_aggregator table remains empty for the course

1. Are you facing the issue for the same user or even other users too?
2. Can you test with a different user to see if the issue persists?
3. For users whose assessment_aggregator table isn't updating:
   • Monitor and share LMS service logs when content state updates are called
   • Complete the course consumption and share the assessment_aggregator job logs.

@suraj-tekdi Not this, these are the service and job logs which you had previously shared. Could you share the course hierarchy read response for two specific cases? You can find this in the Network tab of your developer tools by looking for the GET /course/v1/hierarchy/{course_id} API call that triggers when a course is opened.

Please provide the responses for:

1. One course where entries are successfully generating in both tables for the user.
2. One course where entries are not being generated for the same user.

Primarily, a project or programmes’s processes can be divided into input, activities, output, outcome and impact aspects. Key concepts like SMART (Specific Measureable Achievable Relevant Time-bound) results are defined. This session focuses on the link between these three aspects and how to prepare an RBM for the participants’ own work in programme/ scheme planning and implementation. \nAt the end of the session participants will be able to explain the concept of RBM and develop an output outcome framework for monitring the results. They gain skills in application of the tool in developing/ analysing the municipal performance index.",

While valuable, these approaches often lacked the granularity and objectivity needed to navigate the complexities of modern cities. This course bridges this gap, equipping urban practitioners with the skills and knowledge to harness the power of data for informed decision-making.\n\nUnder the strategic partnership on Sustainable Urban Development - Smart Cities (SUDSC II) which is jointly being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), NIUA is rendering an end-to-end ecosystem support for mainstreaming risk- informed, integrated, resilient, and sustainable urban development in cities. The project involves four components: Policy Advocacy, Capacity Building (CB), Mainstreaming Innovations, and Instituting Communities of Practice. As part of the Capacity building component, a CB module on Data Analytics and Visualisation was developed. This course will empower urban practitioners and municipal administrators to transform data into actionable insights, improve decision-making, and contribute to the development of more efficient, sustainable, and resilient cities.",
