Forme Individual Contributor License Agreement

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Forme project, the open-source PDF engine and its associated packages, maintained by Molitor LLC ("we" / "us"). This agreement applies to your contributions to the Forme project regardless of the repository name, GitHub organization, or package namespace they are published under.

Forme is MIT-licensed and will remain available under the MIT license. This agreement exists so that the project's licensing options are not accidentally constrained in the future — it gives Molitor LLC the rights needed to relicense or dual-license if that ever becomes necessary, while you keep full rights to your own work.

This agreement is adapted from the Apache Software Foundation's Individual Contributor License Agreement. By signing (commenting as instructed by the CLA bot on your pull request), you accept the following terms for your present and future contributions to the Forme project.

1. Definitions

"You" means the individual signing this agreement, or the entity on whose behalf they are authorized to sign.

"Contribution" means any original work of authorship — code, documentation, tests, or other material — that you intentionally submit to the Forme project for inclusion in it, in any form (pull request, patch, issue attachment, or otherwise). It does not include work you clearly mark as "Not a Contribution."

2. Copyright license

You grant Molitor LLC and recipients of software distributed by Molitor LLC a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contributions and such derivative works.

3. Patent license

You grant Molitor LLC and recipients of software distributed by Molitor LLC a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated below) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contributions, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by you that are necessarily infringed by your Contributions alone or by combination of your Contributions with the project to which they were submitted. If any entity institutes patent litigation against you or any other entity alleging that your Contribution, or the project it was submitted to, constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to that entity under this agreement for that Contribution or project terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.

4. You are entitled to grant this

You represent that you are legally entitled to grant the above licenses. If your employer has rights to intellectual property you create that includes your Contributions, you represent that you have received permission to make Contributions on behalf of that employer, that your employer has waived such rights for your Contributions to the Forme project, or that your employer has authorized this agreement.

You represent that each of your Contributions is your original creation. If you wish to submit work that is not your original creation, submit it separately, identifying its source and any license or restriction you are aware of, and mark it conspicuously as "Submitted on behalf of a third party: [name]".

5. No support obligation, no warranty

You are not expected to provide support for your Contributions, except to the extent you desire to provide support. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, you provide your Contributions on an "AS IS" basis, without warranties or conditions of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation any warranties or conditions of title, non-infringement, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

6. Keeping us informed

You agree to notify Molitor LLC when you become aware of any facts or circumstances that would make the representations above inaccurate in any respect.
