Bug: .git folder not recognized under WSL

Description

Files integration with Git should be able to recognize .git folders and GitHub remotes inside WSL too.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open Git/GitHub folder under WSL
2. The git button doesn't show up

Unfortunately after much investigation it looks like this is impossible - whilst LibGit2Sharp technically allows cross-filesystem Git repos, it is disabled in the code for whatever reason.
It might be possible if we implement #16738
