πŸ“˜ Guide: Using and Creating Prompts

Welcome to the Promptly Guide. This page covers everything you need to know about building and managing your prompt library.

βž• Creating Prompts

  1. Click the + (Plus) icon in the top toolbar.
  2. Title: Give your prompt a descriptive name.
  3. Body: Enter the prompt text. You can use Smart Variables here (see below).
  4. Tags: Add tags to categorize your prompt.
  5. Folder: Select a folder to keep things organized.
  6. Click Add Prompt to save.

πŸ§ͺ Smart Variables

You can make your prompts dynamic by using curly braces: {{variable_name}}.

  • Example: Act like a {{expert_type}} and write a blog post about {{topic}}.
  • When you click to copy this prompt, Promptly will show a modal asking you to fill in 'expert_type' and 'topic'.
  • This saves you from manually editing the text every time!

πŸ“₯ Using Prompts

  • Copy: Simply click on any prompt card to copy it to your clipboard.
  • Search: Use the search bar at the top to filter by title or tag.
  • Favorites: Click the 'Star' icon on a prompt to pin it for quick access.
  • Expand: Click the 'Chevron' or the preview text to see the full prompt body.

πŸ”— Sharing

  • Click the Share icon on any prompt.
  • It will copy a link like https://ken.tools/promptly/#import=... to your clipboard.
  • Anyone with the extension can click that link to import your prompt instantly.

🌐 Community Library

  • Click the Book/Globe icon to explore curated prompts.
  • Browse categories and click Add to copy them into your personal library.
