Hello,
I've just started working on my hometown of Fürth, Germany.
Right now, I'm in the process of adding name:etymology:wikidata to OSM.

How should we handle streets named after a married couple (husband AND wife) or a family (men and women)?
If these are omitted, it would mathematically skew the M/W ratio.

Streetnames based on multiple people is taken into account in the data process.

It seems only working with name:etymology:wikidata, but not with data.csv.
And how to handle streets named after families? Neutral or M + F?

If you want to do it in the data.csv file, you need to specifiy + in the gender column.

I do plan to transfer my repository, but first I’d like to add more streets.
So far, I’ve gotten as far as D, but there’s still quite a bit of work to do before I reach Z.

The README.md for equalstreetnames-template mentions exclude.way, exclude.relation, gender.way and gender.relation, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere.
Is this still current?
Is there an easier way to assign gender based on the street name rather than OSM IDs, similar to how it's done in gender.csv?
Every time I run “composer run update-data,” my manual entries there get overwritten.

Absolutely no issue but if you want you can already transfer it. I can then setup the automated data process so you can follow the your progress.
We can then setup the website once you're ready.
You decide of course.

Yes, you can indeed configure those in your config.php file.

No, that part works based on OSM type (way/relation) and ID.

I've setup the automated update data process!

It's currently failing because of a duplicate ID: https://github.com/EqualStreetNames/equalstreetnames-fuerth/actions/runs/25073338091/job/73459297133#step:8:7

Type/ID must be unique in the data.csv file.
For the issue reported (https://github.com/EqualStreetNames/equalstreetnames-fuerth/blob/4d228f8bb8cc14166c1ef2e80883b36064bfdc04/data.csv#L12-L14), keep only 1 single line with the 3 names (instead of 3 separated lines).

No, the goal was to use only OpenStreetMap + Wikidata.
The data.csv file is just there as workaround.

That being said, you can use the "Description" field in Wikidata to add extra information if you need it.
That "Description" field is what's shown in the popup in EqualStreetNames.
