Your purpose in using this API:
I'm building a mobile app that allows Islamic researchers and scholars to organize their study of the Quran and Hadith in a structured way. Users can create nested chapters/sub-chapters, attach Hadith and Ayat references to them, tag entries for easy searching, and attach supporting images. The app will use the Sunnah.com API to fetch Hadith text and metadata (collection, book, hadith number, grading) automatically when a user enters a reference, rather than requiring manual transcription.
API rate limits:
Maximum requests per second: 2
Maximum requests per day: 1,000
Is your use case better served by having an offline dump of hadith data or programmatic API access?
An offline dump would likely suit this use case best. Since Hadith text is static and doesn't change, and this is a mobile app where users may need access without a reliable internet connection, bundling/syncing an offline dataset would give faster, more reliable performance than repeated live API calls. Programmatic access for occasional lookups or updates would also be useful as a supplement, but the offline dump is the primary need.
What are the languages in which would you like hadith data?
Arabic (original text) and English (translation).
What programming language will your API client be in?
JavaScript / TypeScript (React Native).
