I'll see if can get a working modification off the ground for this at some point if there's an interest.
Edit: Yes this is possible and I've got it working. It requires modifications to three files: main-popupset-.inc.xhtml, tabbrowser.js and tabContextMenu.ftl, making use of functionality mostly already there. Right now it's just two additional unload menu items for left and right unloads, but I suppose those could be nested via an arrow of the already existing "Unload Tab" option.
Edit 2: @the-r3dacted I've got it working as a pop out menu from the existing unload menu item.
@gthzee I just received notification that my pull request for your request has been merged into the 152 build, so be on the look out for this in the near future. Enjoy!

Not exactly what you want, but have a look at below extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/auto-tab-discard/
where
Discard==unload😉 ...gthzee commentedon Jul 9, 2026
it's better if it native rather than addons. because it already there. just add few.

You can shift + click to select multiple tabs and then you can right click and unload them all. This is still a good idea though.

I prefer "Foxy Gestures" addon for that.

@gthzee I finally...found the will to get the last part of this working and have submitted a PR pending merge into the next release...hopefully.
