on Dec 12, 2025 Having a native status bar would be cool, but I have no idea how to implement it.
what about just adding some sort of blank space at the bottom to allow for dragging UI elements to it?
adding a progress bar and ability to add toolbar buttons like zoom button to the status bar would be also cool
Reacted by legacy1477Describe the solution you'd like Minimalistically allow to put extensions at the bottom like in old Firefox releases or bring it back altogether.
ahh the good ole days of (XUL) Firefox... Remember when we could do this and more?!! via the good ole Classic Theme Restorer or/and Status-4-Evar.
Both are still available on github:
https://github.com/Aris-t2/ClassicThemeRestorer/releases/
https://github.com/SparkyBluefang/S4E
However... many have tried bringing back many of Classic Firefox's features like the status bar customizations, using userChrome-js/css - but I'm very sad to remind us that they could not. If such features were possible in New Firefox, they would have found the solution(s) by now. (You know Aris would have found them if there were.) As far as I know, they have not.
The best you can hope for is that there's a userChrome-js/css community out there somewhere, that has.

userCSS isn't magic, legacy UI like that was either killed off in the first release of Quantum or in early releases of Quantum

Pale Moon even has Status4Evar integrated into the navigator

the entire browser is mostly used for ripping webgl with NJ and otherwise has terrible laggy performance and bad memory usage last time I've used it, but yes

I'm also working to make Pale Moon even faster (so far with a 30% increase in speed) so the fact that "Pale Moon is slow" is just outdated.

Around late 2024 or early 2025 I used this for an AI outpainting website, the entire page seemed like it struggled to work, in fairness though that was a while ago on a low end system without disabling CSS animations which the site used, so probably it wouldn't be as bad at this point, though I doubt much was done for RAM usage as the site also used a weird select tool which ate RAM somehow and was heavy to render. In my specific use case I fully disabled disk cache and from what I recall memory usage was abysmal compared to even r3dfox or Google Chrome v70 which somehow still worked with the site thus I switched to Google Chrome 70 and later to r3dfox for the site.

All of my web stuff which is internal avoids java and css or as much as possible and is meant for ie6 and above.
EDIT: claude.ai apparently doesn't load at all, which is a known issue since Feb 24th which looks to be like it won't be fixed https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=33194

those few sites' frontend developers have invalid brain cells & all addicted to Chrome garbage & Google is also the fault of making loads of weird web components & JS stuff and also pushing & promoting Chrome everywhere. still many sites including Discord & YouTube & GitHub work just fine in a usable speed

I too agree it was a catastrophic mistake to have killed Internet Explorer in favor of Chromium (no I'm not making a snide remark or joke), but non of us have control or a say over what goes. That being said do you people in Pale Moon's development make exceptions for this or have plans to fix it? Because if you people make exceptions for things you don't like or don't want to fix you have some serious foundational rot and give a reason for people not to use the browser as a daily driver.

stop being so stubborn. you can just use Firefox Quantum or Supermium for those just few broken sites as a secondary browser. Pale Moon is still worth using as a main daily driver because of the world's greatest extensions system and also is pretty much modern anyways & many sites still work.
the bigger issue is that, because of so many ignorent plonkers spreading misinformation about Pale Moon more and more people are getting brainwashed & even LLM(generative AIs) get trained by these incorrect data & give wrong answers to questions about Pale Moon
I'm also working to make Pale Moon even faster (so far with a 30% increase in speed) so the fact that "Pale Moon is slow" is just outdated.
just the downside is that Lun3r's new release posting speed is too slow because of r3dfox priority

►asks a question
►gets insulted again
►says it has no issues and is a daily driver actually
►mfw can't login to my work site because developer thinks my company must be brain dead
►tells me to go download a different browser at the same time
►world's greatest extensions system
►didn't port over themes from pre-quantum firefox era
►not my problem our product has issues and the nerve of people to notice and so does AIcan anyone tell me if this dude's like trying to troll me or attempting at like rage baiting, how is this dude a contributor lmfaooooo

My fork is slowly becoming independent from Lun3r and Hydra and I am slowly back-porting changes and improvements from both Serpent (RT1) and mainstream Basilisk

Basilisk exists if you want a more modern theme, has the same engine n stuff.
Pale Moon actually STICKS to web standards unlike the Chromium/Mozilla standard of 'shove everything even if they aren't standardized'.
The product only has 'issues' because every other webdev sees fancy eyecandy and the 17th JS library for dealing with the same issue and goes 'oooo funny, it works on my chromium-zen-whatever so surely itll work everywhere' logic

What a weird confusing debug project.

Pretty much. I was working on Lun3r and going to make release soon, but now I got a bunch of r3dfox stuff to do. I might just take my current code and release it even though there's more I want to do with it.
I should also update eMail while I'm at it, but I have no idea what state it is in because it's been so long since I've worked on it.
But I also need to work on r3dfox to fix issues AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I hate this

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
No.
Describe the solution you'd like
Minimalistically allow to put extensions at the bottom like in old Firefox releases or bring it back altogether.
Describe alternatives you've considered
I tried a userChrome.css workaround chatgpt generated. Didn't show up at all/work. There's no extensions to my knowledge that emulate or enable it either.
