Hi @FernandoVaras, nice to meet you. You are a bit late, but just take a look at https://jderobot.github.io/activities/gsoc/2026#application-instructions-for-gsoc-2026 and to this thread. yes, the plan includes to extend C++ to all RoboticsAcademy exercises, including the computer vision ones. Cheers, |

Hey JdeRobot team,
I'm Fernando Varas, a 9th semester Mechatronics Engineering student at UNI (Lima, Peru) and I'm interested in applying for Project #2 for GSoC 2026.
I have experience with C++ and ROS2 — I modified KISS-ICP to use point-to-plane ICP with PCA-based normals and encoder-based motion prediction, all as a ROS2 package. I also built a computer vision toolkit combining YOLOv8 + SAM2 for real-time detection and segmentation. I also work with ROS2 at Multipacha 4.0 developing robotic components. My projects are at github.com/FernandoVaras
I have completed the technical demo challenge — I ran the Follow Line exercise in both Python and C++ using RoboticsAcademy locally.
One question: are there plans to extend C++ support to computer vision exercises as well, like object detection or image processing?
Thanks,
Fernando Varas
