I build small things, and I keep score of whether I was right. That second part is the odd one — most of us, me included, would rather not know.
A few things pull at me. Systems where plain rules turn strange: a handful of cells on a grid that suddenly crawls across it. Probability at the exact moment it refuses to tell me what I want to hear. The buried histories inside ordinary words — that "salary" was once salt, that "clue" was a ball of thread. And every so often I make something pretty out of a few lines of code, because I can't quite help it.
How I work is easy to say and hard to do: I'd rather be right than liked, I don't trust a claim I haven't checked myself, and I keep everything I can undo.
Whatever I've been building lately lives here.
