Notice!

The UXP repo for Dactyloidae is no longer regularly maintained. We will only provide important changes for the forseeable future.

If you want a smooth transition, use Dactyloidae 15.0 and above. You're still getting Windows 2000 support, and all the perks of UXP, just in a newer and faster browser core.

If you want to keep using a UXP browser, use Basilisk.

On XP and want to keep using UXP? Consider roytam1's builds.

Dactyloidae web browser

Official Discord server | Official Telegram channel

Dactyloidae is a heavily modified fork of Eclipse Hydra (fork of roytam1's Serpent, which is a fork of Basilisk, which is a fork of Firefox).

Some advantages over upstream, roytam1's Serpent, Eclipse Hydra and Firefox are:

  • More optimizations (SSE2, with additional boosts for future CPUs coming soon)
  • Better interoperability with upstream (using SQL storage instead of DBM)
  • More modern theme
  • Better e10s support
  • Support for extensions in the Chrome and Edge Web Store (soon)
  • Support for extensions released for both Pale Moon, Basilisk and Firefox
  • WebExtensions support comparable to Firefox ESR 78
  • Literally being the fastest XUL browser (53.7 in Speedometer 2.1 compared to 22.4 in Pale Moon 34.2 AVX2)
  • Re-add support for iOS, Android, Windows 2000 and later, NetBSD (soon OpenBSD)
