Summary

The ElevenLabs migration guide still said that language_code on synthesis requests is accepted and dropped. Since fish-audio-gateway#5 (merged and deployed 2026-10-16), the compat layer maps the vendor language fields (ElevenLabs language_code, Cartesia language, Google voice.languageCode, Polly LanguageCode) to the Fish TTS language field. Update both places in the guide and link to the Language docs from #258.

Scope

developer-guide/compat/migrate-from-elevenlabs.mdx only. The STT notes in capabilities.mdx (language in transcription responses echoes the request) are unchanged and still correct.

Linear: FISH-1403.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified how synthesis language settings affect text normalization and word timestamps without changing the voice.
    • Clarified which compatibility settings are accepted but ignored, and distinguished speech-to-text language behavior from synthesis.

…language field

fish-audio-gateway#5 (deployed 2026-10-16) maps the vendor language fields (ElevenLabs
language_code, Cartesia language, Google voice.languageCode, Polly LanguageCode) to the Fish TTS
`language` tag. The ElevenLabs migration guide still said synthesis language_code was accepted and
dropped. FISH-1403.

📝 Walkthrough

The migration guide now documents that synthesis language_code is forwarded to Fish as language. It describes the documented effects on text normalization and word-timestamp language, and keeps other vendor-specific tuning settings listed as accepted but ignored.
