A private, decentralized messenger. The client is written in Rust with the UI built on Dioxus — a single codebase framework meant to target Android, iOS, Web, and Desktop from the same code.
Veil aims to be a messenger where the server (relay) never learns who is talking to whom. The inspiration is the SimpleX Chat architecture: instead of accounts or phone numbers, communication goes through one-directional message queues with separate addresses for reading and writing.
Transport between client and server runs over QUIC, via WebTransport
(the wt-client / wt-server crates), rather than classic TCP/HTTP — giving
multiplexed, encrypted-at-the-transport-layer connections as the base for the
app-level end-to-end encryption.
