Problem

omarchy-voxtype-install installs voxtype-bin, which the AUR builds for x86_64 only. On Apple Silicon:

  • the first-run "Install Dictation with Voxtype" invitation opens an installer that fails with target not found;
  • Install > AI > Dictation stays hidden, because voxtype-bin never resolves in the aarch64 repositories;
  • a Voxtype built by hand from the AUR voxtype package, which supports aarch64, is invisible to Remove > Dictation, and omarchy-voxtype-remove would only try to drop voxtype-bin.

Change

  • Off x86_64, the installer offers to build the AUR voxtype package, checking the AUR is reachable first, and installs wtype from the repositories. x86_64 keeps installing voxtype-bin.
  • The dictation transaction drops voxtype-bin off x86_64, so the Install row appears once wtype resolves. The architecture probe is shared with the AUR rows and still runs once per menu batch.
  • The Install and Remove rows detect Voxtype by command, and removal drops whichever of voxtype-bin and voxtype is installed.
  • The transaction generator's dictation override lists wtype, matching the committed manifest.

This follows the source-build path @ironbract proposed upstream in omacom#8316, and fixes omacom#8530 for this fork.

Validation

  • MacBook Pro 13" M1 (J293) on Asahi: the AUR voxtype 1.0.1 package built in about 12 minutes, its Vulkan variant runs on the Honeykrisp driver, and dictation works end to end.
  • On that machine, omarchy-install-available install.ai.dictation returns 1 on main and 0 on this branch. The Edge, Zed and Kitty rows return the same on both.
  • New test/shell.d/voxtype-install-test.sh: x86_64 installs voxtype-bin; aarch64 builds voxtype and never requests voxtype-bin; declining the build or an unreachable AUR changes no packages.
  • optional-availability-test.sh covers dictation on both architectures and the single shared uname probe per batch.
  • Passing: voxtype-install, voxtype-invitation, optional-availability, optional-packages, menu, menu-guards, bin-style, and ./test/cli.
  • Already failing on main and unchanged here: release-ai-port-test.sh ("new users receive the selected Cursor CLI stub"), and test/generate-optional-transactions --check, which reports 9 drift lines on main and 7 here, because the two dictation lines are fixed.
  • Not exercised: the installer run through the menu on a fresh machine, because Voxtype was already installed on the test machine.

voxtype-bin is built for x86_64 only. On Apple Silicon the dictation
installer failed with "target not found", the Install > AI > Dictation
row stayed hidden, and a Voxtype built by hand never showed up under
Remove, while the first-run invitation still offered the install.

- Off x86_64, the installer offers to build the AUR voxtype package,
checking the AUR is reachable first, and installs wtype from the
  repositories.
- The dictation transaction drops voxtype-bin off x86_64, so the Install
row appears once wtype resolves. The architecture probe is shared with
the AUR rows and still runs once per menu batch.
- The Install and Remove rows detect Voxtype by command, and removal
drops whichever of voxtype-bin and voxtype is installed.
- The transaction generator's dictation override lists wtype, matching
  the committed manifest.

This follows the source-build path proposed upstream by @ironbract in
omacom#8316, and fixes omacom#8530 for this fork.

The drift test derives transactions from the menu action, which still
names voxtype-bin; carry the override the generator already uses so the
check passes. When the aarch64 AUR build fails, say so and stop before
installing wtype or running Voxtype setup.

Follow-up from an adversarial review, pushed as 3f367a3:

  • test/shell.d/optional-transactions-drift-test.sh failed on this branch: it derives transactions from the menu action, which still names voxtype-bin. It now carries the same install.ai.dictation override that test/generate-optional-transactions already uses.
  • On aarch64, a failed AUR build used to exit silently with wtype already installed. It now prints an error and stops before installing wtype or running Voxtype setup. A new test case covers this.

Passing: optional-transactions-drift-test.sh, voxtype-install-test.sh (6 cases), optional-availability-test.sh. The full ./test/shell suite wasn't run.
