I my opinion the warning that homebrew software was compiled for an libnx version <= 4.1.0 isn't obvious enough.
I'm new to switch homebrew and just installed it to test out a libretro core I'm working on. It took me quite a while to realize why it crashed all the time. In the end I read the release notes of atmosphere explaining the issue mentioning the warning in hbmenu. I totally overlooked it before. The little red warning line never catched my eye until I knew what to look for. Also you will never see the warning if you just click on the icon on the touch screen.
I think the purpose of the warning should be to notify people who didn't read the release notes. So it should be really in your face. When looking at this from a user perspective I would even consider to not allow launching software that hasn't been recompiled for the new ABI. I don't see the point of allowing launching something that MIGHT work if it doesn't use TLS but will most likely just crash at some point.
In my opinion there will be a lot of bug tickets created at various projects that make homebrew software that just read "the app crashes" and a ton of people will hit various support channels asking for help because things crash left and right. That could be avoided by a better solution in hbmenu.
I would grey out entries in hbmenu that still use the old ABI. You cannot launch them at all and you get a popup explaining that the software has to be recompiled for the new ABI.
If some people really feel like gambling there could be an option or a special build to allow launching old software with a broken ABI. But the default should be to block this IMHO.
