Yes, ESM-only version coming with new major version. All legacy CJS projects can use 4.x Version. This version will be still supported as dual package for Node 14+.

After the current version 4.4.0-beta will be released (in 1-2 weeks), I will prepare new major ESM-Only version.

@gameroman, Ansis v5 is ESM-only for Node.js 18+. The branch for v5 is next, deployed to npm as 5.0.0-beta.0.
V5 lost ~100 bytes.

Ansis v4 is still supported. Bug fixes and minor updates will be synchronized across v5.x and v4.x.

P.S. We need to test this version in many projects.
