On webOS 25 the stock screensaver is a Flutter app with no qml/main.qml, and QML apps can't be launched because the QML booster is disabled (com.webos.applicationManager.supportQmlBooster = false). When the Flutter screensaver is detected, apply.sh bind-mounts assets/ over com.webos.app.screensaver. assets/ now holds a web app (appinfo.json + web-screensaver.html) that mirrors screensaver-main.qml and reads the same settings.json, videos.json and locales. SAM caches appinfo, so it is restarted in the background after mounting. The web player keeps the video 1px short of fullscreen (webOS ends the screensaver when fullscreen video plays) and loads sylvan.apple.com over http, since its certificate chains to Apple's private root CA. A paused video in another app keeps its hardware decoder. When the web screensaver started a 4K HEVC video, the media server gave it that app's HEVC decoder, and the app could not resume. Before playing, the web screensaver now asks com.webos.media for the active pipelines. If another app holds a video decoder, it shows a clock that moves every minute instead of video.
