- Line 776: Update the descriptor equality check comparing cluster.model with
request.model() to use protobuf semantic message comparison instead of
serialized-string equality, so equivalent descriptors with differently ordered
unknown fields are treated as equal.

Thanks for this, @Adityakk9031! The guard now compares the whole descriptor, so a retry that changes This one is waiting on merge order rather than on your code. It is stacked on #723 — its head's parent is #723's tip — so it cannot land before #723 does, and landing it first would squash #723's whole cluster implementation under this title. #723 is itself waiting on the call a maintainer reserved on 2026-10-14: the branches carrying One small thing while it waits, optional — it is not holding the merge:
Not blocking this PR: I opened #{issue} for the same guard on Thanks again — this is the right fix in the right layer, and a clean, well-tested one. Reviewed with help from Claude Code and Codex. |
…iptor field (#1077) (#1089) rac_connect_host_start_proto compared only model_id, so a retry that corrected context_window/display_name/framework/supports_streaming got RAC_SUCCESS and the stored descriptor back. Compare the five fields (same helper as the cluster-start fix in #1063) and take the existing RAC_ERROR_INVALID_CONFIGURATION path.

Thanks for this, @Adityakk9031! The guard does exactly what the title says at this head: a repeat Nicely done on the second commit, too: comparing the five fields directly is the right call, and better than the bots' suggestion — this core builds protobuf namespace-isolated ( Checked at this head: CodeRabbit reviewed the latest commit (no actionable comments, Merge Risk minimal) · CI green · built and validated locally merged into This is on a maintainer hold for merge order, not for your code: this branch is stacked on #723, so it cannot land before it — and #723, #1017, #1045, #1046, #1047, #1090 and this PR all carry Nothing else is outstanding on this one. The three unresolved cubic points ( Thanks again — right fix, right layer, and a clean, well-tested one. Reviewed with help from Claude Code and Codex. |

Hey @Adityakk9031, this PR has merge conflicts with its base branch now, could you rebase and resolve them, keeping the diff as minimal as possible? Thanks! 🙏 |

#1052requires that a change to any descriptor field rejects a repeat start.same_model_descriptor()compares five named fields. If someone adds a sixth field toConnectModelDescriptorlater, a repeat start that changes only that field will still succeed. No test or build step would report this.Add a check on the descriptor's field count so that a schema change forces an update to

Compare
A repeat
rac_connect_cluster_start_protopreviously compared onlymodel.model_id(), so a retry with a changedcontext_window,display_name,frameworkorsupports_streamingreturned success with the old descriptor. It now compares the full descriptor and takes the existingRAC_ERROR_INVALID_CONFIGURATIONpath. Test: changedcontext_windowwith the samemodel_idis rejected; the identical retry still returns the stored state.Stacked on #723 (the guard lives there), so the diff includes its commits until it merges.
Closes #1052
Summary by cubic
Adds a local AI cluster orchestration API —
rac_connect_cluster_start_proto,_cluster_join_proto,_cluster_stop_proto, and_cluster_validate_activation_proto— with the matchingrunanywhere.v1schema (IDL bumped to 1.7.0). Validation covers contiguous layer assignments without gaps or duplicateinstance_ids, peer eligibility against the assigned layer span, and activation tensor dimensions and layer boundaries.A repeat
rac_connect_cluster_start_protofor an already-active cluster previously compared onlymodel.model_id(), so a retry that changedcontext_window,display_name,framework, orsupports_streamingreturned the old stored state as success. It now compares the full model descriptor and layer assignments field-by-field and returnsRAC_ERROR_INVALID_CONFIGURATIONwhen anything changed; an identical retry stays idempotent and returns the stored state.context_windowor model being rejected, plus the unchanged retry staying idempotent.Written for commit 4ce468d. Summary will update on new commits.
