🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Raise SDKException for non-numeric BM25 values.
rrf_k and vector_store go through validators that raise SDKException. bm25_k1 and bm25_b do not. The bridge assigns them directly to the protobuf field. A value such as bm25_k1="1.5" makes protobuf raise a bare TypeError on the public query path. Add a float validator that rejects bool and other non-numeric values. Range and finiteness checks can stay in commons.
As per coding guidelines: "Raise SDKException (via its factories) only — never a bare Exception on the public surface."

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Map PGVECTOR to RAC_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED at session creation.
check_vector_store returns RAC_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED for PGVECTOR. validate_rag_configuration then returns only bool, so this status is lost. The test at core/tests/test_advanced_modality_proto_abi.cpp Line 2187 confirms that session creation returns RAC_ERROR_INVALID_ARGUMENT for PGVECTOR. rag.search and rag.query return RAC_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED for the same value. As a result, SDKs get a different error category for the same input on different surfaces. Pass the rac_result_t from check_vector_store through to rac_rag_session_create_proto. Then update the test to expect RAC_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED.

Reject fractional rrfK values before serialization.
Line 1502 forwards rrfK without checking that it is an integer. The web option contract accepts any positive number, but the proto field is int32. A value such as 1.5 may fail during encoding or be encoded as a different value. Validate that rrfK is an integer and document that requirement.
Based on the provided RagRetrievalOptions declaration, normalizeQueryOptions, and idl/rag.proto contract.

1502:
Update the RagRetrievalOptions contract and normalizeQueryOptions to require
rrfK to be an integer, rejecting fractional values before serialization; keep
the positive-number requirement and document the integer constraint for the
int32 field.

What
A solution YAML
bm25_k1: 0/rrf_k: 0was still silently replaced by 1.2 / 60:RAGConfig.bm25_k1/bm25_b/rrf_kwere plain proto3 scalars, soexpand_ragcould only test the value (> 0) and an explicit 0 never reached the retrieve operator's range check.bm25_b: 0(a legal value: no length normalization) was dropped the same way.idl/solutions.proto: the threeRAGConfigfields become proto3optional(wire-compatible), so presence survives YAML → proto.solution_converter.cpp: forwards each field by presence, so the retrieve operator sees the key and its existing guard rejectsbm25_k1 <= 0/rrf_k <= 0, whilebm25_b = 0is honored instead of dropped.config_loader.cpp: parses the three keys strictly (whole scalar, finite, classic locale).to_float()used to turn garbage likebm25_b: "abc"into 0, which presence would now forward as a legalb = 0; it is a load-timeRAC_ERROR_INVALID_FORMATnaming the key instead.Tests
core/tests/test_solution_runner.cpp(rag_yaml_explicit_zero_tuning_reaches_the_retrieve_operator): a YAML with explicit zeros carrieshas_*presence and emitsbm25_k1/bm25_b/rrf_k= "0" on the retrieve operator (where the existingretrieve_rejects_malformed_paramscases reject the k1/rrf zeros); an unset key forwards nothing; a garbage value fails to load with arag.bm25_bdetail.Stacking
Stacked on #1065 (whose operator guard does the rejecting), which sits on #1048 → #1017, so the diff includes those commits until they merge.

Solution YAML and per-query RAG retrieval now forward explicit BM25/RRF tuning and vector-store selection by presence, so
